Omar Marmoush: Tottenham Hotspur Starting Something New

Omar Marmoush insists Tottenham Hotspur are standing at the start of something, not the edge of a crisis.

Hours before Spurs face Everton in a pressure‑soaked Premier League clash, the Egyptian forward struck an upbeat tone, arguing that the club’s stuttering opening is masking a far brighter picture inside the camp.

Spurs sit seventeenth with just one point from three games. Everton arrive in north London in eighth, with five points and momentum. The table tells one story. Marmoush is determined to tell another.

“It has only been a few weeks since I arrived here, but the overall impression is absolutely wonderful,” he told British newspaper Straits Times, underlining how quickly he has settled into his new surroundings.

The 25‑year‑old also lifted the lid on life under Roberto De Zerbi, a coach known for his intensity and demanding style.

“He has great passion, and we are trying to grasp what he asks of us and apply it on the pitch in the best possible way, and things are going excellently so far,” Marmoush said, painting a picture of a squad still learning but fully engaged.

For now, his contribution in a Spurs shirt has been limited but telling. He came off the bench in the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle, then featured again in the goalless draw away at Nottingham Forest. Two appearances, no goals yet, but a sense that his role will grow as the team beds in.

Marmoush knows results must follow. He did not shy away from that, but he framed it as a question of time and chemistry rather than panic.

“We hope to achieve victories, and as a new player who joined the team alongside other players, the harmony will begin to grow once we spend more time together, and I believe the results will be wonderful,” he said.

That is the bet Tottenham are making: that a rocky August can give way to a sharper, more cohesive side once De Zerbi’s ideas take root and the new signings sync.

Everton at home, with the league table already unflattering, is an early test of that belief. Marmoush has thrown down his marker. Now Spurs have to match his optimism on the pitch.
