Omar Marmoush Set for Tottenham Hotspur Move

Omar Marmoush is on the brink of swapping Manchester blue for north London white, with his move to Tottenham Hotspur now in its final stretch.

The Egypt international said his goodbyes at Manchester City today after receiving permission to undergo a medical with Spurs, a key step before the deal is officially sealed.

Spurs close in on Marmoush

David Ornstein of The Athletic reported that Marmoush is preparing for his medical as the last major hurdle before signing for Tottenham. The forward is expected to arrive on loan with an obligation to buy for £50 million, plus £10 million in add-ons. Of that extra £10 million, £5 million are guaranteed.

He is set to sign a four-year contract, with an option for a fifth. Eintracht Frankfurt, his former club, will not receive a sell-on percentage under the terms of this agreement.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has echoed those details, adding that Marmoush is due to sign for Spurs on Thursday, underlining how close the deal now is.

From promise at City to the search for minutes

Marmoush only joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025, earning his Premier League chance after a prolific spell in Germany. But the step up came with a cost: opportunity.

He found himself buried in one of the deepest attacking units in Europe. The numbers tell the story. Eight goals last season in all competitions, but only 16 starts. Enough to show he belongs at this level, not enough to feel central to the project.

That imbalance pushed him towards the exit. Marmoush wanted a bigger role, and City’s packed forward line made that almost impossible. The door opened, and Tottenham walked straight through it.

Tottenham’s aggressive rebuild

Spurs had been circling Marmoush for weeks, tracking his situation while also negotiating with City for Brazilian winger Savinho. They wrapped up the Savinho deal first, for £75 million plus £10 million in add-ons, but never eased off on Marmoush.

English reports had already outlined the framework: a loan with a £50 million buy clause that becomes mandatory once certain conditions are met. In recent days, talks accelerated sharply, pushing the agreement to the verge of completion. Only the medical and final paperwork remain.

This is all part of a huge summer of spending from Tottenham. After finishing 17th in the Premier League last season, the club has thrown more than £300 million at a squad overhaul. Marmoush is not a luxury signing in that context. He is a piece of a rebuild that cannot afford to fail.

De Zerbi’s new weapon

If he passes his medical, Marmoush will begin a new chapter in England under Roberto De Zerbi, who is tasked with reshaping a misfiring Spurs attack after a stuttering start to the campaign.
