Nottingham Forest Break Transfer Record for Liam Delap

Nottingham Forest have smashed their transfer record to land Liam Delap from Chelsea in a deal worth up to £50m.

Forest have agreed a package understood to be at least £45m, with add-ons taking it to the £50m mark, to prise the striker away from Stamford Bridge. Delap is due to undergo a medical on Wednesday as the move edges towards completion.

The 21-year-old had been on the radar of several Premier League clubs, with Everton among those keen, but Forest have won the race and are set to make him the most expensive signing in the club’s history.

Chelsea only brought Delap in last summer, paying £30m to sign him from Ipswich. They valued him at around £50m heading into this window and now stand to bank a £15m profit after just one season in which he scored two goals in 41 appearances.

Forest’s previous record outlay was the £37.5m paid to Ipswich Town for Omari Hutchison in August 2025. This deal blows that out of the water and underlines the scale of their backing for the new campaign.

A medical now stands between Forest and the statement signing they have been chasing.
