Napoli Pursue Marc Guiu from Chelsea for No 9 Role

Napoli are pushing hard to pull Marc Guiu out of his Chelsea limbo and into the heart of their rebuild.

With the market entering its final stretch, the Partenopei have moved the young Spaniard to the top of their list for the No 9 role. Sky Sport Italia report that Napoli are ready with a permanent offer in the region of €15–16 million, plus performance-related bonuses, to convince Chelsea to sell.

This is not a late-window punt. Inside the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, Guiu is viewed as a strategic signing – someone who can help now and grow into a central piece of the club’s future.

From Barcelona promise to Chelsea logjam

Guiu arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2024 carrying the usual weight of expectation that follows a standout from La Masia. Instead of a clear pathway, he has run into what has been described as a kind of purgatory: a packed squad, fierce competition, and precious few minutes to show why he was signed in the first place.

Napoli sense an opportunity.

Massimiliano Allegri, tasked with retooling an attack that has looked uncertain and unbalanced, wants a focal point to reshape the frontline. Guiu, still a teenager but already hardened by elite environments at Barcelona and Chelsea, fits the profile of a mobile, modern striker who can lead the line and grow with the project.

Chelsea’s dilemma

For Chelsea, the situation cuts both ways.

Earlier in the window, there were enquiries about Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus and Manchester United’s recent signing Joshua Zirkzee. Both ideas quickly ran into complications – from cost to availability to the sheer difficulty of prising such players away at this stage of the market.

That reality has sharpened the focus on Guiu. He is the attainable option with upside, the striker who could define the next phase of Napoli’s attack.
