Mohamed Salah's Future and Europe's Transfer Buzz
The transfer window is still weeks away, but Europe’s biggest clubs are already moving pieces on the board. From Mohamed Salah’s next step to Real Madrid’s internal power plays, the market is starting to crackle.
Salah weighs Europe against Saudi riches
Mohamed Salah’s future is edging toward a decision. According to reports in England, the Liverpool star wants to stay in Europe when he leaves Anfield this summer, fully aware he could earn far more by heading to Saudi Arabia.
Money, for now, is not dictating the story.
Fenerbahçe have already made their pitch. The Turkish giants are said to have met Salah’s representatives and laid out a three-year plan built around the Egypt captain, a bold move that underlines just how wide his market will be if he walks away from Liverpool.
City dream of Mbappé and Haaland, while Marmoush weighs exit
At Manchester City, the gaze is fixed on Madrid. Reports in Spain claim City are tracking Kylian Mbappé’s uneasy situation at Real Madrid, entertaining the fantasy of pairing the Frenchman with Erling Haaland in an attack that would terrify the continent.
At the other end of City’s depth chart, another forward could be pushed toward the exit. Omar Marmoush has struggled for minutes, and that lack of game time has alerted Aston Villa, who are monitoring his situation as they look to bolster Unai Emery’s attacking options.
Arsenal eye Real Madrid’s next generation
Arsenal are again dipping into the elite talent pool. The London club are interested in Real Madrid midfielder Arda Güler and are reportedly prepared to go as high as $106 million (€90 million, £78 million) for the Türkiye international.
He is not the only Bernabéu midfielder in the Premier League’s sights. Aurélien Tchouaméni has emerged on Manchester United’s radar, with the club ready to explore a deal if Madrid open the door after his recent altercation with Federico Valverde. Any hint of availability, and United intend to be at the front of the queue.
Núñez on the move again? Chelsea, Newcastle and Juventus circle
Darwin Núñez could be on the carousel once more. The Al Hilal forward is attracting interest from Chelsea, Newcastle United and Juventus, with reports suggesting he might even be allowed to leave on a free transfer.
There is a catch. Any club stepping forward has been warned his wage demands will be substantial. The fee might be low. The salary will not be.
Liverpool and Newcastle clash over Camara, Bournemouth fight to keep Scott
In midfield, another battle is brewing. Monaco’s Lamine Camara is expected to become the subject of a tug-of-war between Liverpool and Newcastle, both clubs looking to refresh and deepen their engines in the center of the pitch.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, are trying to hold what they already have. The south-coast side are working on a new contract for Alex Scott after interest from Manchester United, who see the young midfielder as a long-term project rather than a quick fix.
Arsenal are also widening their search out wide. They have joined Chelsea and Liverpool in the chase for Sporting CP winger Francisco Trincão, adding yet another Premier League heavyweight to a growing list of admirers.
West Ham United are taking a different stance. They are prepared to demand around $114 million (£84 million) for Mateus Fernandes, a price tag designed to make Manchester City and Manchester United think twice before prising the Portugal international away from east London.
Barcelona’s rebuild and Madrid’s internal calculations
In La Liga, Barcelona are preparing their own reshuffle. Ferran Torres is reportedly on the chopping block as Barça look to generate funds and space in the squad to move for striker Julián Alvarez from Atlético Madrid.
Across the divide, Real Madrid are weighing up some seismic decisions. One report claims the club would consider offers for Jude Bellingham to finance a summer rebuild, with any bid needing to exceed $118 million (€100 million, £87 million). Liverpool are said to be exploring whether they can put together a package at that level.
Mbappé, though, is a different story. Despite the noise around his conduct, there is no appetite inside Real Madrid to sell him. President Florentino Pérez is expected to issue a warning over recent behaviour, but the intention is to avoid open conflict with the Frenchman or his camp. Discipline, yes. Divorce, no.
Futures mapped out from Bournemouth to the Bernabéu
Ambition is not limited to the giants. Bournemouth striker Eli Junior Kroupi reportedly dreams of playing for Barcelona and would prioritise a move to Camp Nou if he leaves the Cherries this summer. For a young forward on England’s south coast, Catalonia remains the ultimate destination.
Back in Madrid, the hierarchy have drawn a clear line around their defensive core. Álvaro Carreras is one of just four defenders deemed unsellable this summer, alongside Antonio Rüdiger, Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Everyone else in that back line could, in theory, be sacrificed to reshape the squad.
Names, numbers, and rumours will keep flying over the coming weeks. The question now is which of these bold plans survives first contact with reality when the window finally opens.
