Milan Pursue Zakaria El Ouahdi as Right-Back Target

Milan have turned their attention to Morocco international Zakaria El Ouahdi as they look to lock down a new right-back in this summer’s market.

Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the Rossoneri are closely studying a move for the Genk defender, with the club needing cover for Atekami, who is nearing a switch to Olympique Lyon. The position is opening up, and Milan do not want to be caught short.

Born in 2001, El Ouahdi has already drawn strong interest elsewhere. PSV Eindhoven tracked him earlier in the window, with several reports in Belgium and the Netherlands highlighting coach Peter Bosz’s push to bring him to Eindhoven. Milan are now firmly in that race.

Genk, though, are not blinking. The Belgian side value the Moroccan at between 13 and 15 million euros and are standing rigidly by that price. For now, they show no willingness to soften their stance or let El Ouahdi leave on the cheap.

Milan have not yet put an official offer on the table, but the interest is described as concrete. The club are weighing their options, aware that any move has to fit both their budget and their broader squad planning.

If a deal does materialise, El Ouahdi would become the second major Genk talent to leap to one of Europe’s heavyweights this summer, following Konstantinos Karetsas’s move to Borussia Dortmund for around 35 million euros.

The question now is whether Milan are ready to pay the going rate for Genk’s next big export.
