Michele Di Gregorio Joins Bournemouth on Loan from Juventus

Michele Di Gregorio has swapped Turin for the south coast, completing a paid loan move from Juventus to Bournemouth with a sizeable option to buy attached.

Both clubs announced the deal on Tuesday morning, confirming that the Italian goalkeeper joins the Premier League side on a one-year loan. Bournemouth will pay €1.3m for the season, a figure that can rise by a further €800,000 if performance-related targets are met.

The real weight of the agreement sits in the option to buy. At the end of the campaign, Bournemouth can make the move permanent for €12.7m, spread over three financial years, with an additional €1.5m potentially due in add-ons.

“Michele is a goalkeeper with excellent qualities and valuable experience at the highest level,” said Bournemouth director Tiago Pinto, underlining exactly why the club have moved for the 27-year-old. “He has consistently demonstrated his ability in Serie A and in European competitions, and we believe he will be an excellent addition to our squad.”

Di Gregorio arrives in England after two seasons in Turin, where he became a regular presence in the Juventus goal. Across 84 appearances, he conceded 84 goals and recorded 36 clean sheets, numbers that helped raise his profile beyond Serie A and into European competition.

His departure is part of a wider reshaping of Juventus’ goalkeeping department this summer. The Serie A club have already allowed Mattia Perin to drop down a division and join Palermo in Serie B, a clear sign that the hierarchy between the posts in Turin is being rewritten.

For Bournemouth, it is a calculated move: a proven shot-stopper on a low-risk loan, with the option to commit if he proves he can handle the Premier League storm week after week.
