Marc Guiu’s Chelsea story is over before it ever really started. RB Leipzig have reached an agreement to sign the Spanish striker on a permanent deal, ending his brief stay at Stamford Bridge after a year of promise, frustration and, ultimately, a quiet exit.

Guiu’s next step might easily have been elsewhere. Before Leipzig closed the deal, Napoli had pushed hard and were strongly linked, even reportedly agreeing personal terms with the striker. The Italian club and Chelsea, though, could not bridge the gap on valuation. Manchester City kept an eye on the situation from a distance, while Sevilla explored the idea of taking him back to Spain on loan.

None of those possibilities materialised. Leipzig moved quietly, negotiated in private and, once ready, closed. By the time the story reached the public, it was already done.
