Manchester City Sign Allan Elias from Palmeiras for £34.2m

Manchester City have moved quickly to fill the Savio-shaped hole in their attack, sealing a deal for Palmeiras winger Allan Elias worth up to £34.2m.

City will pay an initial £32m, with a further £2.2m in add-ons, for the 22-year-old Brazilian, who has signed a five-year contract and arrives as a like-for-like replacement for his compatriot. Savio joined Tottenham Hotspur for £75m last week, leaving a vacancy on the right side of Enzo Maresca’s front line that Allan has now been hired to occupy.

A right-sided winger who came through Palmeiras’ academy, Allan made 96 appearances for the Brazilian giants in all competitions, scoring nine goals and supplying 12 assists. Those numbers only tell part of the story for a player City believe can grow rapidly in Manchester’s high-performance environment.

For Allan, the move is the realisation of a dream.

“This is a surreal moment for me. Manchester City, with everything they have won over the past 15 years, are one of the most attractive clubs in the world for players,” he said. “To be able to sit here today and say I have joined them is the proudest moment of my life.

“I love Palmeiras and always will - but the decision to come to City was an easy one. I want to be the best footballer I can be and the conversations I've had with the people at City so far has convinced me there isn't a better place for me to fulfil my ambitions.”

Maresca’s rebuild gathers pace

Allan’s arrival continues a frantic summer at the Etihad under Maresca. The Italian is reshaping his squad aggressively, and the spending reflects that.

City have already pushed past £230m in outlay. Elliot Anderson joined from Nottingham Forest in a £116m deal, while highly rated midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi arrived from Lille for £85.6m. Now Allan becomes the latest piece in a revamped, younger core designed to carry City into the next cycle.

The recruitment drive is not finished. City are in talks with Liverpool over Dutch forward Cody Gakpo and remain keen on Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez as they look to restock the spine of the team.

Yet this is not a simple story of spending. The champions have also cashed in heavily.

Player sales have generated over £286m, led by the departure of 2026 World Cup Golden Ball winner Rodri, who has completed a £65m move to Barcelona. Tijani Reijnders has also left, joining Al-Qadsiah for £52m as City lean into a bold refresh.

So Allan steps into a club in transition, one that is simultaneously stripping back and reloading. He replaces Savio on the depth chart, but the challenge is much bigger: to prove he can grow from Palmeiras prospect into a decisive force in a squad built to chase every trophy.

The fee, the contract, the faith from Maresca — all of it points to one question now. Can Allan turn this “surreal moment” into a starring role in City’s next era?
