Manchester City Negotiates Sale of Tijjani Reijnders to Al-Qadsiah

Manchester City are deep in negotiations with Al-Qadsiah over the sale of Tijjani Reijnders, with a fee of around €60 million close to being agreed, according to Fabrizio Romano. The clubs are moving towards a deal. The player is not there yet.

Reijnders, 28, still needs convincing about the move. While City and Al-Qadsiah edge towards an agreement, the Netherlands international is weighing up what could be a defining decision in his career: stay and fight for his place in Manchester, or cash in on a lucrative switch abroad.

Nottingham Forest lurk in the background. The Premier League side are keen on the midfielder and are closely tracking the situation, ready to react if Reijnders decides against the Saudi offer or if talks stall.

Under contract at Manchester City until mid-2030, Reijnders is tied down long term. That gives City control, but it also sharpens the dilemma for the 35-cap international. He is not under pressure to leave. If he goes, it will be by choice, not necessity.

The Dutchman arrived from AC Milan last summer for €55 million after establishing himself as one of the standout performers in Serie A. He started brightly at City as well, slotting into Pep Guardiola’s rotation and showing why the club invested heavily in him. Then the minutes began to dry up. The strong start faded into a more familiar story for new arrivals at a stacked squad: the bench.

Even so, his numbers last season underline his impact when used. Reijnders played 2,810 minutes in all competitions for City, scoring seven goals — five of them in the Premier League — and providing eight assists. Those are not the figures of a fringe player, but they also reflect a role that never quite became undisputed.

Now the Saudi Pro League beckons again for a Dutch international. Reijnders could follow the path taken by Crysencio Summerville, who moved to Al-Hilal after an impressive World Cup and embraced a new stage of his career in the Gulf.

City are close to their price. Al-Qadsiah are ready. Nottingham Forest are watching. The only real question left hangs over Reijnders himself: does he see his future under the lights of the Etihad, or under the glare of a rapidly growing league in Saudi Arabia?
