Manchester City Completes €100m Deal for Ayyoub Bouaddi

Manchester City have reached an agreement in principle worth 100m euros (£85.6m) to sign 18-year-old Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, underlining a ruthless rebuild at the heart of their team.

Talks between the Premier League champions and the French club accelerated this week, with BBC Sport revealing the negotiations were at an advanced stage. Now the framework is set: Bouaddi will join Enzo Maresca’s side once the final formalities are complete.

Lille have accepted an initial £81.4m fee, with a further £4.2m in add-ons pushing the total package towards the 100m-euro mark. For a teenager, it is a statement fee. For City, it is a response to a summer of upheaval in midfield.

Rodri’s £65m move to Barcelona ripped out the anchor of City’s engine room. Tijjani Reijnders’ £52m switch to Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadsiah removed another option in the centre of the pitch. Those exits forced City to act, and fast.

They have not tiptoed into the market. They have gone straight for the core.

Bouaddi, already a Morocco international at 18, now becomes the latest centrepiece of that plan. City view central midfield as the priority zone to reinforce and have moved aggressively to secure one of Europe’s most coveted young talents.

The recruitment drive has not stopped there. England midfielder Elliot Anderson has already arrived from Nottingham Forest in a £116m deal, another major outlay in an area of the pitch that has defined City’s dominance in recent seasons.

And there could be more.

City retain an interest in Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez, a World Cup winner and another high-end option who fits their technical blueprint. Whether Chelsea are prepared to do business, and at what price, remains unclear.

What is clear is City’s intent. With Rodri gone and a new era under Maresca taking shape, they are rebuilding the midfield not with caution, but with conviction – and with Bouaddi at the heart of the next evolution.
