Luis Enrique Excited for Torres Arrival at PSG

Luis Enrique did not bother to hide his delight. On the eve of the Trophée des Champions, the Paris Saint-Germain manager spoke with the calm of a coach who feels the squad tilting in the right direction – and the arrival of Spanish international Torres is a big part of that.

“I am happy with his arrival. I think we are improving the team, we are always looking for opportunities,” Enrique told reporters, underlining that this was not a luxury signing but a targeted move. PSG, he stressed, know exactly what they are getting.

For Enrique, Torres is the prototype of the modern attacker he wants in Paris. “He is an international player, we know him and he adapts perfectly, because he can play anywhere,” the coach said. Versatility, work-rate, tactical intelligence – the qualities PSG have hunted in the market are, in Enrique’s eyes, wrapped up in one player.

The emphasis, though, was not just on talent. “With his mentality, I think it's important to have this type of player,” Enrique added, making clear that character sits alongside quality in PSG’s recruitment checklist. He pointed to the ongoing collaboration behind the scenes: “We continue to work with the president and Campos on the transfer market and we are looking to improve the team.”

This is not a blind gamble. Torres walks into a dressing room where the coach already knows him inside out. Their paths are tightly woven from their time together with Spain, where Enrique, as national team boss, was the man who first handed Torres his debut for La Roja.

That shared history matters. The trust built in those early international caps now follows both men to Paris, offering PSG a ready-made connection between manager and new signing.
