Loïc Mbe Soh Joins Sparta Prague for €3 Million

Loïc Mbe Soh’s winding route across Europe has a new stop. The former Paris Saint-Germain and Nottingham Forest defender is leaving Sint-Truiden to sign for Sparta Prague in a deal worth around €3 million.

It’s a swift exit after a short but impactful spell in Belgium. Mbe Soh only arrived at Sint-Truiden in January, brought in to cover for Rein Van Helden after his move to Antwerp. He slotted in quickly, played 14 games, and helped the club clinch European football for the first time in their history. This season, he had already featured twice before Sparta made their move.

Early Career

For a player once tipped for the top at PSG, the journey has rarely been straightforward.

Mbe Soh came through the academy in Paris and broke into the first team just enough to taste it, making three senior appearances before leaving for Nottingham Forest in 2020. England was supposed to be the platform. Instead, it became a lesson in patience.

Nottingham Forest

Across four seasons at Forest, he managed only 13 games and one goal. Game time was so scarce that he was sent out on loan twice – first to Guingamp in France, then to Almere City in the Netherlands – in search of rhythm and responsibility.

In 2024, his Forest chapter closed quietly. He left on a free and headed to Beerschot in the Belgian Pro League, where, at last, he played. A lot.

Beerschot

Mbe Soh made 52 appearances for Beerschot. The first full season ended in relegation from the top flight, a hard fall for a club and a defender trying to rebuild. The response was stronger: Beerschot pushed for promotion the following year, with Mbe Soh a central figure, before Sint-Truiden came calling in the January window.

Move to Sparta Prague

Now, at 25, he moves again, this time to a Sparta Prague side with serious ambitions and the budget to back them. From PSG promise to Championship frustration, from relegation battles in Belgium to European nights with Sint-Truiden, Mbe Soh arrives in Prague with scars, minutes, and momentum.

The fee says Sparta believe he’s ready for more than just depth. The question now is whether this is finally the club where his career settles—and takes off.
