Liverpool Intensifies Pursuit of Bradley Barcola

Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola has moved into an aggressive new phase, with Fabrizio Romano convinced the club are now ready to launch a “very strong” push to get the deal over the line.

The 23-year-old PSG winger has been Liverpool’s priority wide target all summer, and the landscape around the fee is finally shifting in their favour.

PSG soften stance as price drops again

PSG started the window by planting a huge “not for less than €170m” sign on Barcola. Liverpool never entertained that figure. Not once.

The French champions have since reshaped their forward line, bringing in Ferran Torres, Mika Godts and Maghnes Akliouche. With attacking reinforcements secured, their stance on Barcola has eased.

Reports suggested the asking price had already fallen to around €146m (£125m). On Tuesday morning, insider Graeme Bailey revealed it has dropped again, with PSG now prepared to talk at around €140m (£119m).

That shift has been welcomed at Anfield. Liverpool’s hierarchy do not want Barcola walking through the door as the most expensive signing in British football history and carrying that weight from day one.

That particular record stays with Alexander Isak at £125m. Even at €140m, Barcola would come in just under that mark.

Daily talks, direct lines

Personal terms are already in place between Barcola and Liverpool. The player is on board.

The conversation now is club to club. And it is constant.

Liverpool and PSG are in daily contact over the structure and final level of the fee. Romano underlined that this is not a traditional saga of bids going in, being leaked, rejected, then improved. It is a straight, director-to-director, owner-to-owner negotiation.

“The feeling of those in the industry has always been that it is never going to be €170m, but it will still be a big amount of money,” Romano said on his YouTube channel, stressing that the talks are very much alive.

Barcola, left out of PSG’s squad for their Ligue 1 opener against Rennes, remains firmly on the market. He is not alone in that. Ibrahim Mbaye, another Liverpool-linked winger, was also omitted as PSG reshape their options out wide.

Romano: Liverpool ready to “go very strong”

Romano’s latest update leaves little doubt about Liverpool’s intentions in the final week of the window.

“Liverpool and PSG are having a direct exchange day by day,” he said. “They are talking in a direct way, Liverpool and PSG, but the deal is alive. Barcola is absolutely, absolutely a deal that Liverpool want to complete in the next few days, and my expectation is absolutely for Liverpool to go very strong for Barcola.”

The message is clear: Liverpool are preparing a decisive move. The club want the deal wrapped up swiftly, not dragged into deadline-day chaos.

An agreement with PSG is still required before Romano can deliver his trademark “Here We Go”, but all signals from his side point in one direction – Liverpool are ready to push hard.

One winger locked in, one more to come

Barcola is not the only wide player on Liverpool’s radar.

The club want two wingers before the window shuts. Behind Barcola, Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh is currently viewed as the leading option ahead of Ibrahim Mbaye for the second slot.

That second signing is closely tied to Cody Gakpo’s future. If the Dutchman moves on, with Tottenham and Man City both in the frame, Liverpool will respond by adding another winger on top of Barcola.

So the picture is simple but high-stakes: a reduced fee, personal terms agreed, daily talks between two giants of European football, and a transfer insider fully expecting Liverpool to hit the accelerator.

The question now is not whether Liverpool are serious. It is how quickly PSG blink.
