Liverpool Targets PSG's Mbaye Amid Transfer Frenzy

Liverpool’s transfer window is finally threatening to catch fire.

With the clock ticking down, the club have already moved decisively for Jeremy Jacquet, Victor Munoz and Ronald Araujo, but the feeling around Anfield is clear: the heavy lifting is not done yet, especially in attack.

The main target remains unchanged. PSG forward Bradley Barcola is still at the top of Liverpool’s wishlist, with negotiations ongoing over a deal expected to soar beyond £100 million. He is the headline name, the potential marquee signing.

But he may not be the only one arriving from Paris.

Mbaye Deal Being Prepared

Reports in France, notably from L'Equipe, claim Liverpool are now preparing a concrete offer for another PSG attacker, Ibrahim Mbaye, with a proposal expected to land on the French champions’ desk by the end of next week.

The numbers are shifting. Mbaye had initially been linked with a fee of around €40 million, but the latest indications suggest his price will be higher than that early estimate. Even so, he is viewed as a more affordable option than Barcola and a player who could ease the strain on Liverpool’s stretched forward line.

Andoni Iraola’s squad still carries a glaring void: the absence of Mohamed Salah. That right-sided attacking role, once so reliably filled, remains the most obvious gap in the team. Mbaye is seen as someone who could be deployed there, offering direct competition and much-needed depth across the front line.

Gakpo Uncertainty Raises the Stakes

The urgency is only increasing. Cody Gakpo is now strongly tipped to join Tottenham Hotspur, a move that would strip Liverpool of another senior attacker at a time when the club can least afford it.

The situation is stark. Lose Gakpo, still lack a Salah replacement, and the forward department starts to look dangerously thin for a club with Liverpool’s ambitions. That reality is staring the Anfield hierarchy in the face.

So the strategy is emerging: push hard for Barcola, line up Mbaye, and try to prise two attackers out of the European champions in one window.

A double raid on PSG would not just reshape Liverpool’s front line. It would send a message about where the club intend to be this season—and how aggressively they are prepared to act to get there.
