Liverpool test Lille’s resolve

The timing is striking. Liverpool have spent much of the summer running into brick walls when it comes to wide forwards in the Premier League. Fernandez-Pardo offers something slightly different to the usual touchline-hugging profile.

He isn’t just a winger. His senior career at Gent and Lille shows a player comfortable operating both out wide and through the middle, drifting into central pockets and acting as a secondary striker when needed. That versatility is precisely the kind of trait that tends to catch Liverpool’s eye.
