Kylian Mbappé Joins Swiss Brand On: A Bold Move in Football

Kylian Mbappé has cut ties with Nike and signed with Swiss sportswear brand On, a move that ends one of the most prominent boot deals in modern football and signals a bold new push by the Zurich-based company into the global game.

On confirmed the agreement on Friday, hailing it as the brand’s official entry into football and aligning itself with the France captain at the peak of his career.

“Today, Swiss sportswear brand On announces its entry into football alongside football champion Kylian Mbappe, marking the beginning of the brand’s journey into the world’s biggest sport,” the company said in a statement.

Mbappé, who has worn Nike since the start of his professional rise, framed the partnership as a chance to help shape what comes next for players and the sport.

“From the beginning, what drew me to On was the opportunity to build something entirely new together that will help shape tomorrow’s game,” he said. “I want to bring my experience and perspective into what we create, push what’s possible through innovation, and always stay true to the joy of football. We have a shared dream, and this is only the beginning.”

The deal’s financial terms remain undisclosed, but the intent is clear: On is no longer just a niche performance brand for runners and tennis players. It wants a seat at football’s top table, and it has chosen one of the sport’s most marketable superstars to lead that charge.

The company has backed up that ambition with another heavyweight appointment. 1998 World Cup winner Thierry Henry has been named its football director, adding a second iconic French figure to the project and giving On immediate credibility inside the game.

Founded in 2010, On built its reputation on running technology before expanding into tennis, where it counts Roger Federer as a shareholder. The Swiss legend also ended a long relationship with Nike before joining the upstart brand, a path Mbappé now echoes as he steps into a new commercial era.

From Federer on the baseline to Mbappé on the biggest football stages, On has quietly assembled a roster of elite names. Now the real test begins: can the young Swiss brand turn that star power into a lasting foothold in the world’s biggest sport?
