Kompany Backs Boey After Bayern Exit Attempts

The transfer window shut, the offers never came, and Sacha Boey is still a Bayern Munich player.

Vincent Kompany’s message now is simple: he stays, he fights, he’s backed.

Bayern had pushed to move the French full-back on this summer but waited in vain for a proposal they deemed acceptable. No such bid arrived. The clock ran out.

So the tone has changed.

“Now the transfer window is closed, and Sacha is part of our team and has our support,” Kompany said at his press conference, drawing a clear line under weeks of uncertainty.

Support, though, does not mean guarantees.

“My role now is that he performs. But the reality is we have Josip Stanišić and Konrad Laimer in the position, and competition is already fierce,” the Bayern coach underlined.

The path back into the side is narrow. Kompany didn’t sugar-coat that. He framed it instead as a test of character.

“So you need patience and hard work. But anything can happen in football if you have the right attitude.

“We're simply treating him with respect. He's training very well at the moment, and everything else will fall into place,” he added.

That last line matters at a club like Bayern, where the transfer market is ruthless and the standards are unforgiving. Boey knows he was on the list to go. He now has to live with that and respond.

Kompany also lifted the lid slightly on how those decisions are communicated behind the scenes, pointing to the approach of sporting bosses Max Eberl and Christoph Freund.

“What I've seen working with Max Eberl and Christoph Freund is that the club is clear and straightforward; also in dealings with players.

“It's not always pleasant for the player, but you also gain a lot of respect from the players when you speak to them clearly and honestly.”

The message to Boey is blunt but fair: Bayern tried to move you, they couldn’t, and now you’re in the fight. Training well is the first step. Forcing Kompany’s hand on team selection is the next.
