The noise around Julian Alvarez is no longer background chatter. It’s a full-blown soundtrack to Atletico Madrid’s summer, and it’s getting louder by the day.

While the boardroom hardens its stance, the situation around Alvarez on the pitch has turned toxic.

While Barcelona push and Atletico resist, another giant is quietly circling.

Arsenal’s interest has not gone away. Sporting director Andrea Berta has stayed in touch with his former employers at Atletico in recent days, Uría reports, especially after the boos that greeted Alvarez against Villarreal.

The Premier League champions are ready to go big. Arsenal would be prepared to break their transfer record – the £105m they paid for Declan Rice three summers ago – to bring Alvarez to the Emirates Stadium.

On paper, it fits. A title-winning side, Champions League football, a manager who wants another elite forward. Arsenal are serious.

There’s one problem: Alvarez does not want to move to London.

Is Arsenal Still an Option?

For now, that seems decisive. But this is the final week of a transfer window, where “for now” rarely lasts long.

Sky Sports News senior reporter Rob Dorsett framed the situation sharply:

“I think even if Arsenal are outsiders at the moment, and the official word is that Arsenal aren't holding out great hopes of making this deal happen.

“But if Alvarez thinks his future needs to be away from Atletico Madrid after upsetting his supporters and they won't sell him to Barcelona, his only option is to join Arsenal, the Premier League champions.

“At the moment, he says he doesn't want to do that. But there are still six days of the window left.”
