Barcelona Defender Jules Koundé Faces Crucial Choice as Tottenham Leads Transfer Race

Several European teams have noticed Barcelona's readiness to negotiate the sale of some players this summer. Among those attracting attention is one of the club's standout defenders, whose future remains uncertain as offers begin to take shape.

Koundé’s Price Tag and Interest from Top Clubs

Jules Koundé, the French full-back, is on Barcelona's list of players available for transfer. The club insists on a minimum fee of 60 million euros for his departure.

Interest has come from multiple clubs. Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Liverpool have all checked in recently, but it’s Tottenham Hotspur who seem most eager to secure his services.

Tottenham Pushes Forward

Spurs require defensive reinforcements following links that suggest Cristian Romero might leave for Barcelona or Inter Milan, and Djed Spence is also expected to depart. The club’s management values Koundé’s adaptability, seeing him as capable both in central defense and at full-back.

They are reportedly preparing a bid around 65 million euros, slightly above Barcelona's asking price, according to Sport newspaper referencing the Caught Offside website.

Other Clubs Remain Interested but Hold Back

Bayern Munich has shown interest but their budget peaks near 40 million euros, far below what Barcelona demands. Liverpool and Chelsea have been tracking Koundé since his time at Sevilla but haven’t made any formal offers yet.

Barcelona’s Perspective and Squad Depth

The club feels comfortable with current options at the position. Players like Eric García, Xavi Espart, and João Cancelo provide depth, so moving Koundé would allow Barcelona to strengthen other areas, perhaps central defense or attack.

Despite the interest, Barcelona won’t settle for less than 60 million euros for one of manager Hansi Flick’s key players. Tottenham's potential offer meets this threshold, but the decision ultimately lies with Koundé himself.

Koundé’s Position

Since joining from Sevilla in 2022 for 55 million euros, Koundé has settled well at Barcelona. He extended his contract last summer, committing until 2030, showing his contentment at the club. Still, with competitive offers on the table, the ball is in his court now.
