Liverpool have done their homework too. The Reds have been monitoring full-backs across Europe, and reports on Aramburu have been described as hugely positive. His defensive strength and positional versatility fit neatly with what their recruitment team has been seeking as they plan the next phase of their backline.

They are not alone. Tottenham, Newcastle United, Everton and Fulham all ran the rule over Aramburu in the summer, a sign of how quickly his name has spread through Premier League scouting departments.

From Venezuela to La Real mainstay

Aramburu’s emergence feels all the more striking when you trace the route he took. He came through Deportivo La Guaira, then moved into Spanish football with Real Union before working his way into Real Sociedad’s B team.

From there, he forced his way into the first-team picture and is now an important figure at La Real. It is the kind of steady, unfashionable pathway that rarely grabs headlines, yet it has produced one of the most coveted full-backs in Spain.

The £50m question

Real Sociedad hold a strong hand. Aramburu is under contract until 2030, which gives the Basque club significant leverage over his future.

There is, though, a clear escape route. His deal includes a release clause of around £50 million, a figure that offers interested clubs a concrete sense of what it would take to prise him away. For Premier League sides used to paying premium prices for proven defenders, it is a substantial but far from outrageous sum.

Manchester City have already completed their checks as they refine their right-back options. Liverpool’s assessment has produced similarly strong feedback. For now, Aramburu remains fully committed to Real Sociedad, anchoring their defence and building his reputation week by week in LaLiga.
