Jesse Bisiwu walked into FC Barcelona’s first-team setup on August 1 as the quiet headline of a long, stubborn negotiation. An €8.5 million bet from Club Brugge, 18 years old, raw, and suddenly dropped into the middle of Hansi Flick’s new project.

Two weeks on, he’s still there. Still in the first-team dressing room. And that, inside the club, matters.

A question that won’t go away

Barcelona’s internationals are back. The training group has shrunk. One by one, academy players have been sent back to the reserve side or left to train on the fringes while they wait for moves. Bisiwu has not joined them.

He has survived Flick’s first big filter of the summer, and the coaching staff, according to SPORT, are already talking about him in the tone reserved for players they believe can be shaped for the elite.

Yet the big question at Barça lingers: will Bisiwu live this season with the first team or drop down to the reserves for minutes and patience?

Flick has already started to sketch out where Bisiwu fits. So far, both in that debut and in training, the German has used him as a left winger.

He can operate on the right as well, and that versatility will help him, but the left is where he looks most natural.

The work now is about polishing: tightening his decision-making, sharpening his pressing, turning raw speed and dribbling into cold numbers – goals, assists, chances created.

The next step comes quickly. After Udinese, Bisiwu is expected to feature prominently again this Sunday against Basel in another preseason test. More minutes, more pressure, more clues.

Inside the club, the hope is simple: that this 18-year-old, signed after months of negotiation and handed straight into the hands of the first-team coach, can earn the right to stay where he already is – not as a guest, but as a permanent part of Hansi Flick’s squad.
