Jeremy Doku Signs New Contract with Manchester City Until 2031

Manchester City have locked down one of their most explosive attacking weapons, with Jeremy Doku signing a new five-year contract that keeps him at the Etihad Stadium until at least 2031.

The Belgian winger, who arrived from Rennes in 2023, has rapidly become one of the Premier League’s most unpredictable and electrifying forwards. Still only 24, Doku has already racked up 131 appearances for City, scoring 22 goals and supplying 34 assists, numbers that only tell part of the story of his impact on the pitch.

His pace, direct running and ability to unpick low blocks have helped City collect a stack of major honours in a short space of time: the Premier League title, the Club World Cup, the FA Cup and the League Cup are all on his CV in Manchester.

Doku has also become a mainstay for Belgium, earning 48 caps and featuring at the most recent World Cup, where his fearless, one‑on‑one style again drew attention on the international stage.

The timing of this deal matters. City are heading into a new chapter under Enzo Maresca, who has stepped in to replace Pep Guardiola after the Catalan’s era-defining spell at the club. With the Premier League campaign kicking off on August 21, tying down Doku gives Maresca a marquee attacking piece around which to shape his front line.

Doku made it clear the Italian’s ideas played a major role in his decision to commit long term.

“I have loved my time at City so far, so to have the opportunity to stay for longer is a fantastic feeling,” he said. “This club means so much to me – I have developed as both a player and a person. I feel settled here, and I know I am improving every day because of the work the staff here do.

“With Enzo here now I am really excited about the new season. His style of football is the kind we love, so that's exciting for the players.”

Inside the club, there is a strong sense that this is a deal earned rather than gifted. City’s director of football Hugo Viana underlined just how highly they rate the winger.

“Jeremy is a huge talent whose improvement since joining us in 2023 is clear for all to see,” Viana said. “He has a special dynamic. He has the right characteristics for what we are looking for in a winger. He really does bring a special quality to our team.

“He deserves this new deal, and I know he will continue his improvement in the coming months and years.”

City have seen plenty of stars come and go in recent seasons, but this is a statement of continuity around a player entering his prime. Maresca inherits a squad that has already conquered almost everything; with Doku tied down for the long haul, the new manager has a devastating wide threat to build around as he tries to write his own chapter in City’s modern dominance.
