Jadon Sancho Considering Move Abroad After Manchester United Exit

Jadon Sancho is leaning towards a move abroad as he weighs up his next step in a career that has already taken in some of Europe’s biggest stages.

Six weeks on from the expiry of his Manchester United contract, the 26-year-old winger remains a free agent and is sifting through a growing pile of offers. Premier League clubs are on the table, but those close to the situation believe his priority is a fresh start outside England.

One familiar name has already emerged. Borussia Dortmund, the club where Sancho made his reputation and racked up 158 appearances across two spells, are understood to be among the sides interested in bringing him back. It was from Dortmund that United paid £73m in 2021 to lure him to Old Trafford, a move that never quite ignited in the way either party imagined.

Sancho’s recent seasons have been nomadic. He spent 2023-24 on loan at Aston Villa, playing 39 times as Unai Emery’s side surged into the Champions League and lifted the Europa League. He featured as a late substitute in the victory over Freiburg, adding another appearance in a European final to a growing list – three in three seasons.

The following campaign, 2024-25, took him to Chelsea on loan. He played 41 games for the west London club under a deal that included an obligation to buy. Chelsea, though, chose to cut the cord, paying a £5m penalty rather than trigger the permanent transfer and sending him back to United, where his contract wound down.

Now, with pre-season looming and options open, Sancho is keeping himself sharp away from the glare. He has been training with non-league side Flixton to maintain his fitness while his representatives work through the offers.

England or elsewhere? For the moment, his gaze is fixed beyond the Premier League – and the next move will define the next chapter of a career that still feels like it has something significant left to deliver.
