Inter Dominates Gran Gala del Calcio as Dimarco Named Serie A Best

Inter’s season of supremacy collected its latest seal of approval at the Gran Gala del Calcio, where the Nerazzurri walked away with the Serie A Club of the Year award and a heavy presence in the Team of the Season.

At the centre of it all stood Federico Dimarco. The wing-back, a symbol of Inter’s aggressive, high-tempo football, was voted Serie A Player of the Year by his fellow professionals – a peer verdict that carries real weight in any dressing room.

“This kind of award is unique,” Dimarco said, clearly moved by the recognition.

Last season he set the assist record; now he wants even more. The attacking full-back spoke openly about pushing his numbers higher, determined to sharpen the edge that already makes him one of the league’s most dangerous wide men.

Team of the Season

Inter’s dominance ran through the symbolic best XI of the campaign. The Team of the Season featured Mile Svilar in goal, with Marco Palestra, Alessandro Bastoni and Manuel Akanji in defence. Lautaro, Inter’s captain and emotional reference point, also stepped onto the stage to collect his own accolades. “It is always an honour to receive votes from colleagues,” he said, underlining the sense of unity in Simone Inzaghi’s squad. “We have a great group and had a fantastic season.”

Dimarco did not hide from the darker turning point that shaped his rise. He traced his breakthrough back to the most painful night of his career: the Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

“My breakthrough? It all started after the lost Champions League final against PSG, which pushed us to give our absolute maximum,” he explained.

That heartbreak, instead of breaking Inter’s core, hardened it. Dimarco has ridden that wave, transforming frustration into fuel.

Yet amid the trophies and applause, a more delicate topic surfaced. His contract.

The 26-year-old revealed that talks over a new deal have not even started. For a player just named the best in Serie A, the admission cut through the gala gloss.

“Renewal? Unfortunately, we haven’t spoken about it,” Dimarco admitted. “I hoped it would happen after last season’s performance.”

It was a reminder that football’s glittering nights often sit alongside unresolved questions. Inter have built a side that sweeps up awards and points, with Dimarco central to that structure. The club’s hierarchy now face the task of matching that on-field trust with a long-term agreement.

For now, the left-back insists his mind is elsewhere. The spotlight, he says, must swing back to the pitch.

“Now I want to remain focused on the match against Napoli,” he added. “We haven’t been able to win against them for too long.”

The gala belonged to Inter. The next statement, Dimarco clearly believes, must come on the pitch – and perhaps, soon enough, across a boardroom table.
