Inter Champions League Squad 2026-27: Stones and Jones Lead Summer Signings

Inter have nailed down their squad for the 2026-27 Champions League league phase, and all four summer signings are in. John Stones, Curtis Jones, Aleksandar Stankovic and Djed Spence have all been registered across List A and List B in the club’s submission to UEFA.

The paperwork deadline hit on Wednesday, September 2, the day after the transfer window closed across most of Europe. Inter’s announcement confirms who Simone Inzaghi can actually call on when the lights go on in Europe.

Short on quota, short on numbers

UEFA rules are rigid: a maximum of 25 players on List A, at least two goalkeepers, and eight locally trained players. Inter fall one short on that last requirement.

With only seven locally trained players available, the Nerazzurri have been forced to go with a 23-man List A instead of filling all 25 slots. The quota issue trims the squad, not the ambition.

Those seven locally trained names are Ivan Provedel, Raffaele Di Gennaro, Alessandro Bastoni, Federico Dimarco, Mattia Marello, Nicolo Barella and Piotr Zielinski. They form the homegrown backbone UEFA demands.

Stones, Spence and a reshaped back line

Behind them, Inter’s List A is stacked with familiar European operators and fresh faces.

In goal, Provedel and Di Gennaro are joined by Josep Martinez.

The defence carries real weight: Stones, Manuel Akanji, Benjamin Pavard, Carlos Augusto, Yann-Aurel Bisseck and Spence line up alongside Bastoni and Dimarco. It’s a blend of ball-playing centre-backs and aggressive full-backs built for long European nights.

Midfield depth, firepower up front

Midfield looks crowded, and deliberately so. Zielinski, Petar Sucic, Luis Henrique, Andy Diouf, Hakan Calhanoglu, Curtis Jones, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Barella all make List A. Creativity, control, legs, experience – it’s all there.

Up front, the responsibility is clear. Marcus Thuram, Lautaro Martinez and Ange-Yoan Bonny are the three forwards registered for the league phase, tasked with turning all that buildup into goals.

Youth on List B

Stankovic and Pio Esposito, both born after the January 1, 2005 cut-off and having spent an uninterrupted spell at the club, move onto List B rather than taking up List A spots. It’s a technicality that works in Inter’s favour: they are eligible without eating into the main quota.

Inter have not disclosed the rest of the youth-eligible List B group, but the headline is obvious. Stones, Jones, Stankovic and Spence are all in the European frame, and Inter head into the Champions League with a trimmed but tightly constructed squad built to survive the grind of the league phase.
