Hull City Pursue Roma’s Robinio Vaz in Major Loan Deal

Hull City are pushing hard to make Robinio Vaz one of the headline arrivals of the Premier League summer, with the newly-promoted club close to striking a deal with Roma for the 19-year-old forward.

David Ornstein of The Athletic reports that Hull are nearing an agreement for a season-long loan worth €2m, with an option to buy set at a hefty €30m. For a club just back in the top flight, it is an audacious move.

If Hull trigger that option next summer, Roma would bank an immediate profit. The Giallorossi only brought Vaz in from Marseille in the winter window earlier this year, paying €25m for the teenager. A quick turnaround, and potentially a tidy piece of business.

Vaz arrives on the radar in England after a sharp rise across two leagues. He began the 2025-26 campaign at Marseille, where he struck four goals and supplied two assists in 14 Ligue 1 appearances, form that convinced Roma to move mid-season.

Game time in Italy proved harder to come by. The Portugal youth international featured 12 times in Serie A for Roma, all of them off the bench, adding just one more goal to his tally for the campaign. Flashes of talent, but no extended run.

Roma’s stance is shaped by the financial backdrop. The club were widely expected earlier in the summer to cash in on at least one major asset to ease financial fair play pressure. Yet, as the final week of the Serie A transfer window ticks by, no big-name departure has materialised.

Manu Kone, Wesley and Matias Soule all remain on the books. Instead, it is the highly rated but still unproven Vaz who could be the one heading for the exit, swapping the Stadio Olimpico for the intensity of a Premier League survival fight.

For Hull, the calculation is clear. Take a significant but structured gamble on a 19-year-old with top-flight experience in France and Italy, and hope he grows fast enough to become the face of their return to the elite.
