And Elliott, once a symbol of the future, is suddenly at the heart of that change.

Valencia push to land Elliott on loan

According to Spanish outlet Deportes Cope Valencia, Liverpool are ready to agree a deal with Valencia over a loan move for the 23-year-old. The La Liga side have been working on the move “for days” and are now accelerating talks to get it done.

“Valencia speeds up for ELLIOTT,” they posted on X, adding that both clubs are aligned on making the loan happen. The sticking point is clear and familiar: the player’s salary.

Liverpool’s stance is straightforward. With Elliott struggling to convince either Slot or Andoni Iraola, a move away is now on the table again, and this time it feels decisive.

From Klopp favourite to the fringes

Not long ago, Elliott was one of Jurgen Klopp’s go-to players. The young Englishman was regularly among the first names on the teamsheet, trusted in big games and viewed as a long-term pillar of the side.

That status has evaporated quickly.
