Harry Kane Shatters Bundesliga Record with 101 Goals

Harry Kane did not just nudge a record out of the way. He obliterated it.

The England captain hit his 100th Bundesliga goal in Bayern Munich’s 7-0 demolition of Union Berlin, reaching the landmark in just his 98th league appearance for the club and smashing a record that had stood for 49 years. Cologne legend Dieter Müller had needed 129 games to get there back in 1977. Kane tore past that mark with time to spare.

The numbers are starting to look absurd. Since landing in Munich in 2023, Kane has been scoring in the league at a rate of a goal every 78.5 minutes. Across all competitions for Bayern, he now stands at 152 goals in 154 matches, including 61 in 51 games last season. This is not a hot streak. It is a sustained onslaught.

The record-breaking moment came six minutes before the interval. Bayern, already in complete control, won a penalty and there was never any doubt who would take it. Kane stepped up, hammered it home, and history went with it. One clean strike, 100 Bundesliga goals.

He was not finished. Early in the second half, Michael Olise bent in a teasing cross and Kane met it with a firm header to bring up goal No 101 and push Bayern to the top of the table ahead of the rest of the weekend’s fixtures.

The irony was that Kane’s milestone almost overshadowed two brilliant individual displays around him. Olise produced his first Bayern hat-trick, a statement performance from a player still settling into life in Munich. Jamal Musiala added a stunning goal of his own, the kind that usually decides tight games rather than decorates a rout.

Kane, though, stayed firmly in the moment.

“I’m very proud to have now scored 100 and 101 Bundesliga goals. I haven’t been around that long. I’ve loved every second of it,” he told Sky Germany, before quickly turning the spotlight back on those around him. “With Michael, Lucho [Luis Díaz] and Jamal I naturally get chances and today was no exception.

“So I just want to thank the team, the club, the coach, and the staff – everyone who has helped me achieve this. Let’s keep going like this. Scoring more goals in games is obviously a big step. Of course, there have been many important goals among them. I can only say that I’m enjoying every minute of it. Just like today.”

For Bayern, the message is clear: with Kane in this kind of form and a cast of creators like Olise, Luis Díaz and Musiala feeding him, the ceiling is nowhere in sight.
