Hannah Hampton Wins Back-to-Back Golden Gloves
Hannah Hampton has turned consistency into an art form.
The Chelsea and England goalkeeper has claimed the Golden Glove once again, finishing the campaign with eight clean sheets and becoming the first goalkeeper to win the award in back-to-back seasons. Last year she shared it with Manchester United’s Phallon Tullis-Joyce. This time, the honour is hers alone.
One of those shutouts came in the most pressurised of settings: Stamford Bridge, against Manchester United, with the title race tight and nerves even tighter. Chelsea edged that game 1-0, but the most telling moment came right at the end.
Deep into stoppage time, Hampton signalled to come off. Illness had caught up with her. She left the pitch not knowing whether that decision, taken for the good of the team, might cost her individually. A goalkeeper stepping aside at the death is a rare sight; doing it with a Golden Glove on the line says everything about her priorities.
The clean sheet has since been confirmed as hers. The record stands. Eight in total. Another Golden Glove.
This latest accolade caps a remarkable stretch for Hampton. She arrived at this league campaign on the high of winning Women’s Euro 2025 with England, then in September she was crowned the inaugural winner of the Women’s Yashin Trophy at the Ballon d’Or – recognition that she now sits among the elite in her position on the global stage.
Now she has the domestic numbers to match the reputation. Back-to-back Golden Gloves, a European title, and the first Women’s Yashin Trophy on her shelf.
The bar for goalkeeping excellence has been raised. The question for everyone else is simple: who is going to catch Hannah Hampton?
