Galatasaray Signs Deniz Gul from Porto for 10 Million Euros

Galatasaray have moved decisively in the final hours of the window, sealing the signing of Turkish international striker Deniz Gul from FC Porto in a deal worth 10 million euros.

The 22-year-old arrived in Istanbul on 1 September 2026 by private jet, touching down at Ataturk Airport to a noisy welcome from club officials and a crowd of Galatasaray supporters who had gathered to greet their new forward. Gul stepped off the plane, joined in a classic Galatasaray chant with the fans, then was whisked away for medical tests as the club rushed to complete the formalities before the deadline.

A statement to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) confirmed the agreement with Porto: a 10 million euro transfer fee and a 10% share of any future profit should Galatasaray sell the player on. The Super Lig champions have tied Gul to a five-year contract starting from the 2026-27 season, with a guaranteed net salary of 1.5 million euros per year.

“I’m very happy. I’m very excited,” Gul said on arrival. “I want to meet the team and our fans as soon as possible. The important thing for me right now is to be here. I’m here now and I’m focused on this.”

Born in Stockholm to a Turkish father and Swedish mother, Gul climbed through the youth ranks in Sweden before making his name at Hammarby IF. His scoring form there pushed him onto the radar of major European clubs and earned him a move to FC Porto in August 2024 on a contract running until 2029.

On the international stage, Gul initially represented Sweden at Under-19 level. The turning point came in November 2024, when he chose to commit his senior future to Turkey. Vincenzo Montella rewarded that decision with a call-up to the national team for UEFA Nations League fixtures in March 2025, giving the forward his first taste of senior international football.

Now, at 22, Gul comes into a Galatasaray side aiming to defend their league title and make a mark in Europe. The club see him as a powerful, mobile option at the top end of the pitch, someone who can add physical presence and bring experience from his time in Portugal’s top flight.

After completing his medical and signing the paperwork, Gul is set to join first-team training immediately at RAMS Park under the watch of the coaching staff. His arrival strengthens the forward rotation and gives Galatasaray another weapon as the fixtures begin to pile up.

The next step is clear: earn his debut, win his place, and prove he can be more than just a deadline-day headline in the 2026-27 campaign.
