Ferran Torres Edges Closer to PSG Move

Ferran Torres is edging towards the Paris lights, and Barcelona have just taken the step that makes his exit feel inevitable.

The Spain forward has been allowed to skip training for a second consecutive day, a clear signal from the club that his future now lies away from Hansi Flick’s squad and closer to Paris Saint-Germain’s dressing room.

Deal all but done

PSG and Barcelona had already reached an initial agreement over a transfer, but the last few hours turned into a whirlwind of negotiation. Bids went in, counter-proposals came back, small print was argued over. Eventually, the two clubs found common ground and the framework of the deal was settled.

With that in place, Barcelona gave Torres permission to miss Thursday’s session, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, after he had already been absent on Wednesday. Officially, he was due back with Flick’s group that day. In reality, the 26-year-old has been busy tying up the final details of his move to the French champions, with the full blessing of a Barça hierarchy deep in talks with PSG.

The message is clear: he is no longer being treated as part of the day-to-day football operation at the club.

Flick’s group reshapes

While Torres moves towards the exit, the rest of Flick’s squad continues to take shape on the training pitch.

Pau Cubarsi, Dani Olmo and Lamine Yamal all joined the main group at the start of Wednesday’s session, adding quality and profile to the German coach’s work. Pedri Gonzalez, still managing his workload, stayed inside and continued his programme in the gym, never stepping onto the grass.

Around them, several young players remain in limbo. Marc Casado, Hector Fort, Jofre Torrents, Toni Fernandez and Gerard Martin are all training away from the main group as they wait for clarity over their futures. For them, it is a waiting game, and a complicated one.

Reserve ranks under scrutiny

Flick still has a cluster of reserve-team players under his command, even as the transfer market pulls at the edges of his squad.

Goalkeeper Aron Yaakobishvili is training with the first team but is also close to a move to Almeria. Alongside him are centre-back Alvaro Cortes, right-back Xavi Espart, left-back Jordi Pesquer, midfielders Ibrahima Toncara, Aurin Gorin and Brian Farinas, plus striker Hamza Abdelkarim.

They are working, competing, hoping to convince. Yet every session is framed by the same reality: this is a squad in flux, with decisions pending and doors opening elsewhere.

And at the top of that list stands Ferran Torres, already stepping away from training, one signature away from swapping Catalonia for the Parc des Princes and altering the shape of Barcelona’s attack in the process.
