Ferran Torres Joins PSG After World Cup Glory

Ferran Torres, Spain’s World Cup match-winner, has completed a blockbuster move to European champions Paris St-Germain from Barcelona.

The 26-year-old forward has signed a long-term deal in Paris, committing to the French champions until 2031, with the fee understood to be around 50m euros (£42.7m). A statement of intent, and not a subtle one.

Torres arrives at PSG at the peak of his momentum. Only last month he struck the extra-time winner against Argentina, the decisive goal that delivered Spain their second men’s World Cup title. That moment merely crowned a year in which his reputation had already surged.

PSG, who have lifted the Champions League in each of the last two seasons, are not easing off. Torres becomes their second major attacking signing of the summer after the arrival of Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco, adding yet more firepower to a squad already stacked with options.

Torres joined Barcelona in 2022 after a two-year spell at Manchester City, and his move to Paris marks the latest step in a career that has accelerated through Europe’s elite. From Valencia to City, from the Camp Nou to the Parc des Princes, the stages keep getting bigger.
