Ferran Torres Joins PSG: Barcelona Forward Moves to Paris

Ferran Torres is heading to Paris.

On Saturday, both Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain confirmed the transfer of the Spanish international to the French champions, where he will play under Luis Enrique.

The move ends Torres’ spell in LaLiga and launches a new chapter in Ligue 1. At 26, the forward leaves the Blaugrana with a year still remaining on his contract. Barça had wanted to extend that deal, but the player pushed for Paris and made his intentions clear to club officials last week. In the end, his wish has been granted.

Torres arrived at Barcelona from City in January 2022 and leaves with a sizeable body of work behind him: 207 appearances, 65 goals, and a trophy cabinet featuring three League titles, three Super Cups and one Copa del Rey. Not a bad haul for a stint that now feels like a springboard rather than a destination.

His stock has rarely been higher.

The World Cup only amplified that. Torres, who scored for Spain in the final against Argentina, turned that global stage into another showcase of his finishing and temperament. Combined with his steady rise in Barcelona colours in recent seasons, his performances pushed his market value and reputation into a different bracket.

That rise caught the eye in Paris. Luis Enrique pressed hard for his signing, convinced that Torres fits the attacking profile he wants at PSG. The French club’s hierarchy backed their coach, arriving with a powerful financial offer and an ambitious sporting project built to tempt a player in his prime.

Barça could not live in that economic neighbourhood. The Catalan club were outgunned by PSG’s proposal and, once Torres formally communicated his firm desire to join the French side, resistance became unrealistic. Negotiations accelerated, and the deal was sealed.

Now the scene shifts to the Parc des Princes.

Torres, already a World Cup final goalscorer and multi-time league champion, walks into a dressing room built for deep European runs and domestic dominance. Under Luis Enrique, he will be asked to add another layer to an already impressive résumé.
