Enzo Fernández Opens Door for Manchester City Move

Enzo Fernández has nudged the door open for Manchester City – and City are now ready to walk through it.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Argentine midfielder has signalled he is prepared to join the Premier League champions’ project, with City accelerating their plans to land him from Chelsea before the window shuts.

What began as exploratory talks has shifted gear. City, long admirers of Enzo, are now preparing a formal bid to send to Stamford Bridge, with new manager Enzo Maresca described as particularly keen to bring the 23-year-old into his midfield.

City’s interest never really went away. They allowed a previous informal deadline set by Chelsea to pass without putting money on the table, but they stayed in the conversation, stayed on the phone, stayed in the race. As the clock ticks down on the window, they are moving from polite conversations to hard numbers.

Chelsea’s stance is blunt. They will sell, but only on their terms.

The London club want what they consider a “suitable fee” to approve Enzo’s departure and are adamant they must be in a position to replace him before signing off on any deal. Their valuation is the fault line in these negotiations: Chelsea have set the price at £120 million, a figure that looms as the main obstacle for City.

That number has hung over every discussion. It has not scared City away, but it has slowed everything down.

Now, with Enzo receptive to the move and Maresca pushing, the European champions-in-waiting are ready to test Chelsea’s resolve. The offer is coming. The only question left is whether £120 million is a wall City are willing to smash through, or a line Chelsea will eventually be forced to redraw.
