Djed Spence Set for Inter Debut Against Parma

Djed Spence has yet to kick a ball in an Inter shirt, but his wait is almost over.

The English right-back, signed from Tottenham in the summer for €35m, is expected to be available when Serie A returns in October, according to Gazzetta. Inter host Parma at San Siro on October 10, and that date is now circled as the likely moment for his debut.

A long wait for a major investment

Spence arrived in Milan as a marquee addition, a 26-year-old coming off a demanding World Cup campaign with England. Inter moved decisively to bring him in on a permanent deal, but the club have had to be patient.

Fitness issues have kept him out so far. Rather than being thrown straight into full sessions, Spence has been working on a separate programme since his arrival, focused on rebuilding match sharpness after a heavy summer schedule.

The images of him on the pitch at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in August, suited up but unused before the league match against Monza, told the story: signed, present, but not yet ready.

Individual work before the real thing

That phase is now close to ending.

Gazzetta report that Spence will continue to train away from the main group this week, maintaining the tailored workload that Inter’s staff believe he needs. The plan is clear: one more week of individual work, then a return to full training.

Cristian Chivu has given his squad a full week off during the international break. Group sessions for those not away with their national teams are scheduled to resume next Monday, when the tempo at Appiano Gentile will rise again.

Spence is expected to step back into that environment and push for his first minutes in Serie A.

Parma at San Siro marked as the start

If his progress continues as planned, Spence will be available for Inter’s first match after the break, the home fixture against Parma on October 10.

For Inter, it would mean finally unleashing a major summer signing. For Spence, it would be the start of a new chapter, under the lights of San Siro.
