Curtis Jones Joins Inter Milan as English Revolution Gathers Pace
Curtis Jones has walked away from a lifetime at Liverpool to join the growing English enclave at Inter Milan, signing for the Italian champions on a long-term deal to 2031.
The 25-year-old becomes the third Englishman in three weeks to arrive at San Siro, following right-back Djed Spence and centre-back John Stones, as Inter lean heavily into Premier League experience for the defence of their Serie A title.
Italian reports value the move at €35 million for the Reds academy graduate, who leaves Anfield after 16 years in the club’s system.
“After a lifetime with Liverpool, the midfielder leaves his home country for the first time, joining fellow England internationals John Stones and Djed Spence and becoming the sixth Englishman in Inter's history,” the club announced, hailing “a new, incredible adventure” for their latest signing.
For Jones, the goodbye was raw and simple. “After 16 years, it's time to say goodbye,” he wrote on Instagram. “I came here as a kid with a dream of playing for Liverpool and I've been lucky enough to actually live that dream. Liverpool will be a massive part of me.”
Inter’s English core grows
Inter’s shift is striking. In 118 years of history, only three English players had ever pulled on the shirt before this year. That number has now doubled in a matter of weeks.
Spence has also penned a deal until 2031, while Stones arrived on a free after his contract at Manchester City expired, adding Champions League-winning pedigree to Simone Inzaghi’s back line.
The trio arrive with Inter already primed for another title push. The Nerazzurri open their Serie A campaign against Monza on Saturday, with a new-look squad and a distinctly English flavour in the dressing room.
For Jones, the next step is clear: swap the Kop for the Curva Nord and prove that a boyhood dream at Anfield can be the launchpad, not the limit, of his career.
