Costantino Favasuli Joins Napoli on Loan from Catanzaro
Costantino Favasuli stepped into Rome’s Villa Stuart this morning with a small crowd of Napoli supporters waiting at the entrance. The message was clear: this is not just another squad filler. The Partenopei believe they are bringing in one of the brightest young full-backs in Italian football.
The 22-year-old defender is undergoing medical tests ahead of a move from Serie B side Catanzaro, a deal structured as an initial one-season loan. Napoli will pay €1 million for the loan, with an obligation to buy set at around €6 million, underlining how convinced the club are about his long-term potential.
Favasuli arrives on the back of a standout campaign in Serie B. Last season he made 36 appearances for Catanzaro, scoring two goals and providing seven assists as the Calabrian club pushed all the way to the Serie B play-off final. His numbers reflect more than just defensive reliability; they point to a full-back who relishes driving forward and influencing games in the final third.
Nominally a full-back, he has mostly been used on the right side, but his versatility allows him to operate on the left flank as well. That flexibility carries real value for a Napoli side looking to refresh and deepen their options out wide.
His rise has not gone unnoticed at national level either. In June, Favasuli made his senior Italy debut under caretaker coach Silvio Baldini, featuring in both friendlies against Greece and Luxembourg. Two caps, two more steps in a career that is accelerating quickly.
Now comes the leap to Napoli. From Catanzaro and the grind of Serie B to the expectation and noise of the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. The medical is the formality; the real test will be whether Favasuli can turn promise into permanence in a shirt that demands it every week.
