Como transfer updates: Morata out, Ricci in, Van der Brempt to Sassuolo

Como are ripping through the final days of the transfer window with the urgency of a club that has just seen its Champions League path laid out in front of it.

The first big move is official: Alvaro Morata has left for Spain. The striker joins Leganes on loan, with an option to buy at the end of the season, trimming a major name from the Lariani attack and freeing room for the next wave.

The defence is changing too. Ignace van der Brempt is on his way to Sassuolo, with multiple Italian outlets, including Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia, reporting that the clubs have agreed terms. It’s a loan with an obligation to buy, the overall package worth €6.5m. Sassuolo had also tracked Rafik Belghali of Hellas Verona, but the winger now looks more likely to head to Torino, clearing the way for Van der Brempt to anchor their plans on the flank.

While two players head for the exit, Como have moved quickly to bring in fresh quality in midfield.

Samuele Ricci arrived today to undergo his medical, stepping out of AC Milan’s shadow in search of a central role by the lake. The deal is structured as a loan worth €1.5m, with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season for another €22m plus performance-related bonuses.

For Milan, it closes a short and slightly underwhelming chapter. They invested heavily in Ricci last summer, paying Torino €23m plus bonuses, but the midfielder managed only 34 appearances and a single goal in Rossoneri colours.

For Como, it’s the opposite story: a statement of intent. With Morata gone, Van der Brempt poised to depart and Ricci stepping through the door, the squad is being stripped back and rebuilt in real time, with the Champions League looming as the real test of whether this gamble pays off.
