Chelsea are weighing up a dramatic late swoop for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford in the final days of the transfer window, according to The Independent.

Despite already blasting past the £300m mark on new signings, the Stamford Bridge hierarchy are still exploring the market for one more high‑end attacker. The idea of prising a 28-year-old England international away from Old Trafford, at this stage of the summer, would be one of the shocks of the window – and a bold statement about the scale of Alonso’s rebuild.

Chelsea still hunting firepower

Alonso’s side opened their Premier League campaign with a breathless 3-2 win over west London rivals Fulham, a result that underlined both their attacking potential and their lingering need for refinement in the final third. The club are currently prioritising outgoings, trimming a swollen squad, yet the door remains firmly open for a late move if the right forward becomes available.
