Chelsea Sell Marc Guiu to RB Leipzig

Chelsea have agreed to sell striker Marc Guiu to RB Leipzig in a deal that brings a swift end to his brief spell at Stamford Bridge.

The 20-year-old Spain Under-21 forward is set for a permanent move to the Bundesliga club, with only final details left to be ironed out, according to sources in Germany. Chelsea have sanctioned the transfer, though the move is not yet fully completed.

The fee remains under wraps, but Guiu has been valued at around £25m — a sizeable profit on the roughly £5m Chelsea paid Barcelona to bring him in from his boyhood club in 2024.

His time in west London never truly caught fire. Guiu managed 29 appearances for Chelsea, scoring eight goals, six of which came in their 2024-25 Conference League-winning campaign, where he carved out a useful role in Europe without ever fully nailing down a Premier League starting spot.

A short loan spell at Sunderland last season did little to alter his trajectory. He featured just three times for the Championship side, returning to Chelsea with his long-term future already in doubt.

The writing has been on the wall this summer. Guiu trained away from the main first-team group during pre-season as the club prepared for his departure and reshaped their attacking options.

Chelsea’s Squad Maneuvering

Chelsea’s squad manoeuvring has not stopped there. Midfielder Kendry Paez has been recalled from an underwhelming loan stint at River Plate, with the club keen to free up an overseas loan slot. The plan now is to send the Ecuadorian teenager back out, this time likely to another club on loan, with a move to England firmly on the table.

Guiu heads to Leipzig in search of minutes and momentum. Chelsea move on, still trading aggressively in the market, still reshaping a squad that rarely stands still for long.
