Francesco Camarda is the name doing the rounds. The AC Milan prodigy, still only 18, already has a senior cap for Italy and carries the sort of reputation that makes Europe’s biggest clubs sit up quickly. He is viewed as one of the standout attacking talents of his age group, and Milan know it.

Reports suggest he wants more first-team minutes. That’s the opening Chelsea would usually try to sprint through. The club have just pulled off a similar move with Marc Guiu, taking advantage of a release situation that made financial sense.

This is different. Guiu came at a bargain price. There is no indication Camarda would be anything like that. Milan are under no pressure to sell, and a teenager already involved with the Italy senior setup will not be short of offers or patience.

Even if Chelsea’s scouts are tracking him – and it would be a surprise if they weren’t – the sporting logic is awkward. A young striker chasing regular football is unlikely to view a crowded Chelsea attack as the quickest route to minutes. On paper, the move feels more theoretical than realistic right now.

Estevao cools talk of frustration

Elsewhere, another Chelsea talent prospect has been in the headlines. Estevao has been linked with dissatisfaction over his playing time, with suggestions he was unhappy about his role.

He pushed back on that narrative in comments to ESPN Brazil, denying he is disgruntled. For a teenager under the spotlight so early, clarity matters. Chelsea will be keen for noise around his situation to quieten as he continues his development.

Neto wing-back experiment under scrutiny

Then there is Pedro Neto. When Chelsea were winning, using him as a wing-back looked like a clever tweak, a way to squeeze creativity and direct running into a different zone of the pitch.

Now the results have dipped, that same idea is being questioned. Pundits are less convinced by the balance it gives the side and whether it maximises Neto’s strengths.

Chelsea’s recruitment department can chase the next big thing in Camarda. The more urgent puzzle, though, might be getting the best out of the attacking talent they already have.
