Brenden Aaronson Signs New Contract with Leeds United
Brenden Aaronson has nailed his colours to the Leeds United mast, signing a new three-year contract as he entered the final 12 months of his previous deal.
The 25-year-old becomes the third key figure to commit to Daniel Farke’s project at Elland Road this week, following fresh agreements for Joe Rodon and Jayden Bogle. Stability off the pitch to match the steady climb on it.
Aaronson’s extension is the reward for a mature, consistent campaign under Farke that helped Leeds secure their Premier League status last season. Once a promising import, he is now very much part of the club’s core.
The United States international made no attempt to disguise how straightforward the decision was. Talks moved quickly because he wanted them to.
"It's a dream come true being at this club and being a part of this project. It's so ambitious. It's a beautiful club and I love being here. There was no doubt in my mind. I think it was easy for me to make this decision, and I am so excited about what the future has in store," Aaronson told the club’s official website.
Those words are backed up by his numbers. Aaronson has already racked up 129 appearances for Leeds, scoring 14 goals and supplying 10 assists, with only a brief detour on loan at Union Berlin in 2023-24 interrupting his time in West Yorkshire.
Last season under Farke he featured 42 times in all competitions, delivering four goals and five assists. Only Anton Stach created more chances than his 37 across the campaign, underlining how central he has become to Leeds’ attacking patterns.
The renewal also keeps momentum rolling in a proactive window for the Whites. Harry Wilson, Nico Elvedi, Tarik Muharemovic, and James Trafford have all arrived to deepen Farke’s options, while the club quietly locks down the spine that carried them through a tricky year.
Upcoming Challenge
Now comes the first real test of this rebuilt, re-committed group.
Leeds open their 2026-27 Premier League campaign on Saturday with a trip to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest, a ground that has offered them nothing but frustration. They have gone 14 top-flight visits there without a win.
History bites. Yet opening day tends to bring out a different Leeds. They have lost just two of their last 18 Premier League season openers.
Aaronson is staying for the long haul. The question now is whether this refreshed Leeds side can turn loyalty and planning into a statement start in a stadium that has so often silenced them.
