Beşiktaş Dominates Marseille 4-1 in Europa League Opener

Beşiktaş opened their UEFA Europa League journey with a statement. Under the lights in Istanbul, they tore through Marseille 4-1, turning an even first half into a second‑half showcase and taking full control of their group from day one.

First Half

The noise started early.

In the 56th minute, Kökçü made amends. He slipped the ball to Černý, who drove his effort towards the far corner. The shot kissed the post on its way in, restoring the hosts’ lead and igniting the stadium again.

Marseille barely had time to reset. Three minutes later, they were undone from a set piece. Kökçü delivered the corner, Murillo attacked it with conviction, and his header flew home for 3-1. In the space of 180 seconds, Beşiktaş had ripped the contest away.

The pressure kept coming. On 68 minutes, Fakili almost produced a highlight-reel moment, his curling effort beating De Lange but crashing back off the crossbar. Marseille were hanging on, the scoreline flattering them more with every attack.

The final blow arrived in the 81st minute. Olaitan, involved again, combined with Vlahovic to open up the defence, then teed up Poku. The finish was decisive, sealing a 4-1 victory and underlining Beşiktaş’s dominance on the night.

One match into their Europa League campaign, Beşiktaş have their first three points — and a performance that will make the rest of the competition take notice.
