Bayern Munich Opens Door for Sacha Boey's Stay

Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund has opened the door for Sacha Boey to stay at the club, despite the defender having been firmly on the summer exit list.

The German champions had been prepared to move the 25-year-old on, but a transfer failed to materialise before the Bundesliga window shut. With that deadline gone, the situation has shifted.

"The probability is now greater that he'll stay here," Freund told reporters on Friday, underlining that Boey has never caused problems behind the scenes. "He's always behaved in impeccable fashion. The plan was different, but this can happen in football."

Bayern had explored options for the French right-back, yet no agreement was reached in time. Now, the club appear ready to fold him back into their plans rather than force a late solution elsewhere.

Freund made it clear the picture will only be fully settled once every market closes. "When all transfer windows are closed and he's still here, then he'll remain a player in our squad," he said.

For Boey, whose future looked to be far from Munich only weeks ago, the path suddenly points back toward the Bayern dressing room and a fresh chance to fight for his place.
