Bayern Munich to Make Michael Olise Their Highest-Paid Player

Bayern Munich are preparing to push all their chips behind Michael Olise, with plans to hand the French winger a new contract that would make him the club’s highest-paid player.

His current deal already runs until 2029. Bayern want to go beyond security. They want a statement.

According to French newspaper L’Équipe, the German champions are working on an extension that would elevate the 24-year-old above the club’s current top earners and lock him in as a central pillar of their long-term project in Munich.

From Crystal Palace signing to Bayern cornerstone

Olise only arrived from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024, but he has wasted no time in changing his status. At 24, he has become one of Bayern’s standout performers, forcing his way into the heart of their plans on the pitch and in the boardroom.

The club hierarchy now see him as a player to build around, not just another attacking option. They are ready to dig deep financially to keep him in Bavaria, even as the player has long been linked with a dream move to Real Madrid.

For now, that dream is on hold. L’Équipe report that Olise will stay in Germany for at least another season, with Bayern determined to surround him with the platform and responsibility of a franchise player.

Kompany connection and a clause on the horizon

One key factor in Bayern’s stance: Vincent Kompany. The French international is said to have found the ideal environment under the Belgian coach, whose influence has helped push his game to another level. The relationship between player and manager has become a cornerstone of Bayern’s belief that Olise can lead their next era.

There is, however, one major change expected in the new deal. The first contract did not contain a release clause. Any extension now is likely to come with one written in, a recognition of both Olise’s rising profile and the realities of the modern transfer market.

If Bayern complete the extension on the terms being discussed, Olise would leap to the top of the club’s salary ladder.
