Bayern Munich Triumphs 3–1 Over Leipzig: Diaz and Saibari Shine

Bayern Munich stepped up their pre-season preparations with a sharp 3–1 win over RB Leipzig at the Allianz Arena on Saturday, a performance that mixed early control, a brief wobble, and a late surge – plus one worrying moment near the end.

Luis Diaz, Bayern’s new Colombian attacking spark, wasted no time announcing himself. On 14 minutes he drifted into space, took his chance, and buried the opener to give the hosts an early grip on the game. Bayern moved the ball with confidence, kept Leipzig largely at arm’s length, and carried that narrow 1–0 lead into half-time without ever needing to hit top gear.

Second Half

Leipzig came out after the break with a very different attitude. The equaliser felt like a warning Bayern had ignored. In the 52nd minute, Bryan Gruda dragged the visitors level, punishing a lapse that briefly loosened Bayern’s control and gave Leipzig a foothold.

The response was ruthless. Five minutes later, Aleksandar Pavlovic split the Leipzig back line with a precise pass and Nathaniel Brown pounced, restoring Bayern’s advantage with a composed finish. The momentum swung straight back towards the Bavarians, and Leipzig never quite recovered that burst of belief.

Then came the first glimpse of Bayern’s latest midfield project. On 71 minutes, Moroccan international Ismael Saibari entered the fray for Tom Bischof, making his debut after his summer move from Eindhoven. He didn’t need long to justify the excitement around him.

Barely 10 minutes after stepping onto the pitch, Saibari carved open Leipzig’s defence and laid the ball on a plate for Jamal Musiala. The substitute made no mistake, slotting home Bayern’s third and effectively killing the contest. A debut assist, a clear statement: Saibari looks ready to belong at this level.

The night, though, took a sudden and unsettling turn. Musiala, who had changed the tempo the moment he arrived, fainted in the 86th minute and had to leave the field. Young Senegalese player Bara Ndiaye came on in his place as Bayern saw out the final minutes with the result secure but the mood slightly subdued.

Bayern now roll into competitive action with purpose. Borussia Dortmund await in the domestic Super Cup on Saturday, a first real measuring stick before the Bundesliga campaign opens against Stuttgart on 28 August. The questions are clear: can this refreshed Bayern turn these pre-season flashes into a sustained statement when the stakes rise?
