Barcelona Signs Rodri and João Cancelo
Barcelona’s recruitment drive rolled on in earnest on Tuesday morning, as the club’s latest two signings reported for medicals ahead of their official unveiling.
La Liga’s heavyweights have crammed weeks of work into the last 24 hours. After drawn‑out talks and constant speculation, Barcelona finally pushed through their third and fourth major arrivals of the summer window, adding fresh weight to Hansi Flick’s first squad at the club.
Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi were the first big statements. Now the Blaugrana have deals in place for Rodri and João Cancelo, underlining a clear intent to sharpen both the spine and the flanks of the team before the new campaign truly bites.
Medical Tests
On Tuesday, the plan moved from paperwork to procedure. Defender Cancelo and midfielder Rodri made their way to the Ciutat Esportiva, checking in at the club’s facilities to undergo the usual round of scans and medical tests required before their moves are rubber‑stamped.
Cancelo’s arrival at the complex was captured on camera and shared by Diario Sport, a familiar scene of a new signing stepping through the doors with the cameras tracking every stride. Mundo Deportivo, meanwhile, picked up Rodri’s entrance, documenting the midfielder’s first steps into his prospective new workplace.
Upcoming Presentation
Both players are expected to be officially presented as Barcelona players in the coming days. The timing is tight but tantalising: if all goes to plan, Flick could have Rodri and Cancelo available for selection as early as Sunday, when Barça open their La Liga campaign against Elche.
A busy window in Catalunya is starting to take a very clear shape. Now the question is how quickly Flick can weld these high‑profile additions into a side ready to chase the title from day one.
