Barcelona's Pursuit of Julian Alvarez Nears Conclusion
Barcelona’s long pursuit of Julian Alvarez is running out of road.
With the new La Liga season about to start and Elche looming on Sunday, the Catalan side are staring at a stark reality: they still don’t have a recognised striker in the squad. All summer, the plan has been clear. Alvarez or bust. Now “bust” is edging into view.
Atletico Madrid have held their line. The Argentine has been labelled untouchable, not for sale at any price Barcelona can realistically put on the table. The stance has barely shifted despite weeks of talks, pressure and speculation.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will make one final push to prise Alvarez away. One last call, one last proposal. If that fails, they walk away.
The club have reportedly set a hard deadline of the next two or three days. Either Alvarez is in by then, or the focus flips to Plan B. And there are plenty of Plan Bs.
Dozens of names have already been thrown into the mix as possible alternatives. The rumour mill has gone into overdrive, spitting out option after option, with Ayoze Perez now emerging as the latest forward linked to the Camp Nou.
All the while, the Alvarez saga has dominated Barcelona’s summer, shaping the narrative of their rebuild and clogging the headlines. Now the clock is ticking loud enough for everyone to hear.
Within days, Barcelona either land their man or finally turn the page and bet their season on someone else.
