Gerard Romero reported on his YouTube channel that Barcelona have stepped up those conversations in recent days, going beyond simple interest and putting an initial proposal to Porro’s representatives. This is not a casual enquiry. It is groundwork.

The twist? Koundé has not pushed for the exit. For now, he has shown no desire to leave, and his situation remains unresolved. That uncertainty has forced Barcelona to act early rather than wait for the market to dictate their options.

Porro, 26, has built a strong reputation at Tottenham, where his attacking thrust and work rate down the flank have stood out in the Premier League. He also started the majority of Spain’s matches during their run to winning the last World Cup, a stage that underlined his ability to handle pressure at the highest level.

Tottenham moved to secure their asset last June, handing the Spanish defender a new contract that runs until 2031. He has the full backing of coach Roberto De Zerbi, who views him as a key figure and a player who can shape games both defensively and in the final third.
